Design from Vision, Development from Responsibility : Prashant Patel – Founder – P_ edge

Discover how P_edge Founder Prashant Patel blends functional design with responsible real estate development to create meaningful spaces.

In today’s rapidly changing design and real estate landscape where speed, scale and commercial value are given higher priority, there are few professionals who connect their work with purpose, empathy and long-term vision.

Founder of P_ edge, Prashant Patel is one such name. For him, design and development are not separate from each other, but complementary responsibilities that define how people live and experience space.

“Functionality comes first and aesthetics naturally follows” is the philosophy that underpins his entire work. His journey, which began as a civil engineer, has evolved into a developer, which clearly reflects values, personal experience and continuous growth.

In Yugen Realty’s popular column ‘The Design Vanguard’, we present the inspiring journey of Prashant Patel in which he is not just creating projects, but creating a meaningful and responsible legacy.

YUGEN REALTY, SURAT

Prashant Patel’s entry into civil engineering was not planned, but started with his father’s vision and dreams. As a student, he was inclined towards mechanical engineering and he also got top-level opportunities in it.

However, his father’s strong belief in real estate development made him choose civil engineering. In the initial years, he could not fully connect with this field and felt an inner struggle.

A significant turning point in his life came when his father passed away during his studies. If he had lived a little longer, perhaps the period of his struggle would have been shorter and his complete vision could have been transferred faster. However, over time, Prashant Patel realized that his father’s guidance was right.

Today, he proudly says that he is happy to be a civil engineer and a part of the construction industry.

The mainstay of his professional approach is his people-oriented personality. He does not consider design as a matter of imposing his ideas, but rather as a matter of understanding the client’s aspirations. His process starts with listening – understanding what the client wants, what his needs and lifestyle are. For him, functionality always comes first, and then aesthetics naturally joins the design.

This balanced approach makes his projects not only visually appealing, but also practical and efficient. He sees design not just as an artistic exercise, but as a responsibility towards the users.

A unique feature of Prashant Patel’s personality is his focus. He believes in single tasking, giving full attention to one task at a time. He dives deep into any project and doesn’t move forward until he gives his 100%. This approach helps him maintain quality and clarity in every work.

His professional journey began in 2006, when he got a small but significant opportunity. His first project was to design a restaurant for a food chain called ‘Sugar & Spice’, which was run by Sandeep Dawar. The design challenge and the trust of the client he received in this indoor dine-in restaurant project became a strong start to his career.

Over the years, he has developed a signature style of his own with element-based colour selection and balanced space planning. He doesn’t over-design, but connects each element with a purpose, which creates a natural harmony in the project.

The most important lesson he has learned is communication. Clearly transferring his creative vision to the client is the key to development. He believes that the success of design lies in how effectively the designer can convey his ideas to the client’s mind.

Apart from design, Prashant Patel has also ventured into real estate development, through which he has fulfilled his father’s dream.

Today, he is working on several projects, including a 111-villa weekend home project called ‘Jupiter Avenue’ at Narthan. Along with this, a commercial building project is underway on the Ring Road with Sandeep Dawar, and plans to develop a resort near Navsari are also underway.

In the coming time, he is particularly interested in prefab construction and 3D printing technology. He believes that this technology will make construction faster, more efficient and more sustainable in the future. He is moving towards working in this field on a larger scale in the coming decade.

When it comes to reforming the industry, he believes that ethical standards need to be strengthened. The industry can become more transparent and accountable only when not only designers but also clients understand and value ethical practices. Designing sensitively with the environment in mind has become an absolute necessity in today’s times.

His creativity is more evident in a quiet environment. Working with light music and thinking early in the morning or late at night is an important part of his creative process. He gets inspiration from nature, environment and philosophy, while feedback from people gives him new direction and energy.

Architect Ajit Jariwala, Architect Jay Patel, Architect Takshil Jagani and Interior Designer Vishal Kheradiya have been his sources of inspiration. His professor J. H. Khati, who was a town planner, has also played a significant role in shaping his design philosophy. Along with this, his friend and civil engineer Ashish Maniar (Dubai) also provides constant encouragement and inspiration.

Among the projects he has done, a bungalow project in Bharuch makes him particularly proud. This project shows the best combination of his thinking and execution.

He enjoys the process of creation the most. Preparing a basic design, transferring that vision to his team and getting the best output from it is his favourite part of his work style.

His message to the new generation of architects and designers is clear: adopt ethical practices, understand the client’s needs, work with passion and design responsibly. He believes that success comes not only from talent, but also from consistency, discipline and integrity.

Prashant Patel’s journey is a perfect blend of resilience, evolution and purpose. His journey from a shy student to a confident designer and developer is inspiring.

He is not just building structures, but is also creating a more thoughtful and responsible built environment. His personal life is also one of simplicity and balance.

He is interested in playing the flute, as well as loves solo travelling, hiking, reading and exploring new places. These activities give him peace of mind and keep the creative energy within him alive.
