ISHRAE Surat Chapter is not just a regional body; it is a powerhouse of activities that embody the larger goals of ISHRAE. The Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE), since its founding in 1981 in New Delhi, has grown into a dynamic and influential professional society with over 25,000 members and 61 chapters across India and abroad. Anchored in its mission to advance the sciences of HVAC&R, ISHRAE has consistently empowered its members through education, innovation, and community engagement.
Among its vibrant chapters, ISHRAE Surat—established in 2008—has emerged as a shining example of purposeful growth and regional excellence. Nestled in the industrially and climatically significant region of South Gujarat, ISHRAE Surat has created a legacy of meaningful outreach, technical leadership, and sustainability-driven initiatives.
2025: A Visionary Leap with a 5-Year Plan
Speaking to Yugen realty Newspaper Mr. Deepak Maloo, President, ISHRAE Surat said, “ISHRAE Surat is not just an organization – it’s a movement of passionate engineers, professionals, and students working together for a greener, technologically advanced future.”
Under the leadership of President Deepak Maloo, the 2025 Chapter Working Committee (CWC) of ISHRAE Surat has launched a structured Five-Year Vision —a Firm and Foundation step for Chapter’s Future. This landmark plan was unveiled on 12th April 2025 at Hilton Garden Inn, Surat, in the presence of Regional Director Mr. Mitul Shah, Past presidents, and all members of the society.
The vision, rooted in the GREEN theme, outlines a multidimensional framework for transformation:
G – Geographical Expansion:
Focused membership growth in regions like Varachha, Katargam, Hazira, Sachin GIDC, and Navsari to bring ISHRAE’s benefits closer to local professionals and industries.
R – Reforms in Programs:
Shift from quantity to quality. Every technical program is now measured on five quality parameters to ensure value-driven content and improved member experience.
E – Ensuring Decarbonization
Aiming carbon neutrality in all its events, ISC further targets carbon negativity in all events by the year-end—showcasing leadership in environmental stewardship.
E – Engage and Collaborate:
Strengthening connections between legacy members and youth through sports, mentorship. Planning collaborative initiatives with textile, diamond, and industrial associations to take advocacy to next level.
N – Nurturing Skills:
Skill development remains at the core. Industrial visits for engineering and ITI students, job fairs, and a national technician-focused event are planned to build future-ready professionals.
Quarter 1: Breaking the Mold with Early and Impactful Engagement
This year, ISC broke tradition by launching its technical programs in April—much earlier than the usual post-summer start in June. The result? A phenomenal 200% achievement of planned technical programs within the first quarter.
With an average feedback score of 4.48/5, the programs reflect ISC’s unwavering commitment to technical excellence and relevance.
On the membership front too, ISC has already crossed 200% of its annual target, further strengthening its community of over 410 professionals, including consultants, contractors, facility managers, utility experts, and architects.
Greener Surat: From HVAC to Urban Forests
In line with ISHRAE’s commitment to sustainability, Surat Chapter has decided to join the Surat Van initiative as a Van Mitra to create an urban forest using the Miyawaki plantation technique. Every member will contribute to this greening effort, reinforcing ISC’s role as an environmentally conscious organization.
Flagship Events Ahead
Looking forward, ISHRAE Surat is gearing up for two major events:
1. ACRESERVE (Skill Upgradation National Event)
Targeting 350+ technicians, this event will combine technical training with motivational and soft skills development to uplift HVACR workers across levels. This event is planned on 20th September 2025 led by Acre Serve Co ordinator Mr. Kishore Ambaliya
2. URJAVARAN – The Power of Ideas for a Sustainable Industry –
Scheduled for December 2025, this much-awaited conference will bring together national experts to explore decarbonization strategies, energy efficiency policies, and sector-specific innovations in industries like solar, semiconductor, diamond, and steel. This event is going to take place under the able leadership of Urjavaran leader Mr. Kaushal Jariwala.
Journey of ISC is very much because of regular mentorship and engagement of its Past President with a special mention to Mr. Bharat Varia , Mr. Rajesh Shetruja, Mr, Bhavik Joshi, Mr. Ankit Mody and Mr. Ankur Mantri.
Mr. Ankit Mody and Mr. Ankur Mantri are also serving currently at the Zonal level and Mr. Bharat Varia has served in past at the national level for K 12 Chair.
As Surat continues its march toward becoming a future-ready for driving Sustainable Built In Environment, ISHRAE Surat is poised to play an even more influential role. With a clear five-year vision, strong leadership, and a highly engaged member base, the chapter is not only shaping the HVACR landscape but also leading a larger movement toward sustainability, innovation, and inclusive growth.
