Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund announced the development of a second water theme park in Qiddiya City, southwest of Riyadh.
The Aquarabia park, supported by the Qiddiya City Investment Company (QIC) under Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), will showcase 22 rides and family-friendly aquatic attractions. This new water park is expected to be the largest in the region and will complement the existing Six Flags Qiddiya City, a $1 billion flagship theme park.
Construction of the Aquarabia park, covering an area of 320,000 sq m, is underway, with a completion date set for 2025. The project aims to incorporate sustainable practices, such as using recycled water for irrigation and cooling, in alignment with the PIF’s commitment to reducing water waste by up to 90%.
Qiddiya City, envisioned as a hub for entertainment, sports, and cultural activities, will also feature attractions like a gaming and e-sports district, the Mohammed bin Salman Stadium, a motorsport track, and the upcoming Dragon Ball theme park. These developments are part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiative to diversify its economy beyond oil.
