Surviving 25 years in the design and construction industry with continuous confidence is a great achievement in itself.
Surat’s prestigious company 19 Designs, which has reached this milestone with skill, courage, hard work and steadfast perseverance, has celebrated its 25th anniversary in the year 2025.
For more than two decades, 19 Designs has emerged as a stable, reliable and value-based identity in the design landscape of Surat.
Providing leading professional services in architectural project designing, interior designing, Project Management Consultancy (PMC) and turnkey interior projects, the company has proven its mettle through four branches, work in 9+ states, 55+ cities and 1000+ successful projects.
On this occasion, a discussion between partners Engineer Mitesh Bhagat and Designer Kavita Bhagat with Yugen Realty Newspaper makes it clear that 19 Designs is not just a firm, but an ideology.
We are very excited to present their inspiring journey in this article.

Talking about this journey that started in 2000, both say that this journey has been one of continuous development, continuous learning process and increasing satisfaction.
19 Designs, which has moved forward with a long and big vision from the beginning, has today emerged as a trusted name – brand in the architectural project design, construction, interior and PMC sector in Surat.
By accepting the changing needs over time, overcoming challenges and continuously delivering value with quality, the company has created its own distinct identity.
There was no single major turning point in this journey, but each phase has been important in the slowly evolving journey.
Initially, they prepared a growth map based on the resources available and developed step-by-step accordingly. “We always tried to do something different,” he says.
This approach gave them opportunities to work on pan-India projects, gained experience in different cities and broadened their professional vision through various types of projects.
19 Designs’ strong foundation is built on four core values — Hard Work, Ethics, Quality and Service. Mitesh Bhagat compares this to the foundation of a building.
Just as a strong foundation saves a building in difficult times, a company built on values becomes stronger in the long run.
These values have made 19 Designs more reliable by fulfilling every commitment responsibly.
Both are clear about the vision. For them, design was not just a job, but a passion. “We work with the same love and passion today as we did on day one,” he says.
His vision has always been to create meaningful spaces — where aesthetics, functionality and human experience are beautifully balanced. When a client comes with expectations, keeping that trust is a priority for him.
Over time, this vision has matured and now focuses on sustainability, technology-driven design and cost-effective solutions. For him, sustainability means energy-efficient design, green spaces, proper understanding of the geography of the location and use of appropriate materials for a healthy indoor environment.
The biggest challenge in the initial years was to establish his identity in a new city like Surat. Service class background, no social network and zero budget – from this situation, he built everything with his hard work.
He says that Surat has a unique sweetness in the city, which accepts talent and gives the right opportunities. By constantly believing in karma, he progressed step by step.
Also, since both are professionals, maintaining a balance between family and work was also a challenge, but with the support of a strong team, all these stages were overcome effortlessly.
19 Designs’ design philosophy is clear — “Buildings are designed to define its occupancy.” According to them, every space should provide an experience according to its use.
A home should not feel like a hotel and an office should have a design that feels energetic.
Whether it is a young couple’s home, an old age home, a hospital, a school, a commercial space or a place with a religious sensibility – the design approach should be different for each.
They believe that many designers repeat their style in every project, while 19 Designs considers each project as a new canvas, filled with new colours and excitement.
Before starting any project, a deep study of the client’s lifestyle, the purpose of the project, the surrounding environment and the future vision is done.
This study creates the foundation of a functionally strong project. Creativity is not limited to the design team alone, but the client and the execution team also contribute equally.
Regular market surveys, presentation sessions and new systems are adopted to stay updated in the field of technology.
19 Designs has a unique strength — the duo of an engineer and a designer. Kavita Bhagat’s creativity and aesthetic sense, and Mitesh Bhagat’s analytical thinking, material knowledge, quality conscious approach and mastery in execution – this combination makes the designs not only beautiful, but durable and practical.
The relationship with the clients is also very personal. They see a project as a journey, involving the entire family or office team.
Especially being a man-woman duo, it makes open and trusting discussions possible with every member of the family.
19 Designs has also pioneered the field of Project Management Consultancy (PMC) in Surat. They proudly say that they are one of the few firms that truly delivers the PMC concept.
Even today, many clients do not understand the benefits of PMC and rely solely on supervisors. 19 Designs’ PMC model is based on teamwork, where the focus is on preventing problems rather than solving them.
With daily site meetings, structured timelines, backup planning and the leadership of a dedicated PMC head like Alpesh Bhagat, projects are completed on time and with quality.
The company’s internal culture – work culture is also its great strength. Here, the team is considered not as staff, but as a family.
Daily coffee meets, regular training, knowledge sessions, celebrations, family dinners and open dialogue – all this makes the office atmosphere lively.
When it comes to leadership, both believe that true leadership is one that recognizes the capabilities of the team, gives them opportunities and gives them the freedom to implement new ideas and solutions.
19 Designs’ multidisciplinary model is particularly beneficial for clients. In today’s busy life, when clients have difficulty coordinating between multiple agencies, it becomes convenient for them to have design, PMC and execution under one roof.
Residential, industrial, corporate, showrooms, wellness, institutional – they have done successful projects in every sector, although residential projects are especially an important part of their identity.
Even after the completion of the project, 19 Designs’ relationship with the client does not end.
They believe that a home, office or industry is not just a physical project, but an emotional product.
If a design or PMC firm stands by them when repairs or technical support are required in the future, then it is considered true service. This aftersales service culture makes 19 Designs more reliable.
Their journey with technology is also significant. They have experienced the transformation from drawing boards to digital platforms firsthand.
In today’s era, speed, quality and communication have become much more effective due to mobile, internet and digital tools.
Regarding the future, they believe that sustainable design, minimalist approach and use of technology will become more important.
PMC will become inevitable in the coming times and turn-key culture will also be adopted more.
19 Designs’ vision for the next ten years is – fewer projects, but more focus on the highest quality i.e., class than mass.
They want to work with clients who understand the importance of creativity and quality. New technology-driven innovations are also set to be introduced soon, although the details of which are being kept as a surprise for now.
The words of both the partners, recalling this 25-year journey, beautifully express their thoughts.
Er. Mitesh Bhagat says, “The main strength that has brought us this far in the last 25 years has been our commitment to quality, ethics and responsibility towards the client.
Our driving mantra in this journey has been – ‘हम करते हैं काम वही, लेकिन तरीका एकदम सही’ ‘We do the same thing, but the method is exactly right’ and we treat our clients like we would build our own home.
For us, every project is not just a construction — it is a reflection of someone’s dreams, emotions and future.
That is why we strive to give our best without compromising on every commitment, and that has been the true foundation of our journey.”
Designer Kavita Bhagat says,
“What has contributed the most to our journey in this 25-year journey has been our passion for design, our intimate connection with people and our mindset of continuous learning.
Design is not just about beauty; it is an experience. When a client emotionally connects with their space, then we know that our hard work has paid off — and that trust and emotion have been the biggest driving force in this long journey of 19 Designs.”
Speaking to Young Professionals, he says, “We trained under the guidance of excellent and talented architects, where we realized that our product is not just a design, but a function of shaping people’s emotions, dreams, values and preferences.
Therefore, we clearly urge the new generation coming into this field to first take proper training, learn on site, gain practical experience and only then start practicing. Because this is not just a business, but a responsibility to make people’s lives easier, happier and more comfortable.”
Designer Kavita Bhagat is also a talented painting artist. Her artistic works, specializing in wall art, are known under the ‘Kavita’s’ brand, which gives a unique aesthetic identity to many spaces.
Both Mitesh and Kavita Bhagat clearly believe that the 25th anniversary is a beautiful milestone, not a final destination, but a new refreshing beginning.
Vision, values and team have played a major role in reaching where they stand today. Now, based on this strong foundation, they want to move forward with more meaningful, more innovative, and more impactful projects.
For them, “@25” is not a milestone, but a momentum – because in their words,
“We feel @25, it is just the beginning.”
