The rulers are staying in Gandhinagar to resolve the grant issue for the Outer Ring Road.

Mayor, Commissioner, Standing Committee Chairman went to Gandhinagar together

In the rapid infrastructure development in Surat metropolis, the issue of grant often arises and becomes complicated. With the increase in population and area, the construction of Outer Ring Road is underway for smooth, easy transportation. However, the rulers had rushed to Gandhinagar to release the grant immediately for the speedy completion of the said project. To release a grant of approximately Rs 300 to 400 crore, Mayor Dakshesh Mawani, Commissioner Shalini Agarwal, Standing Committee Chairman Rajan Patel met Finance Minister Kanu Desai in person and presented the proposal to release the grant. The first phase of the Outer Ring Road project includes a route of 17.31 kilometers and an estimated cost of Rs 486 crore has been given. Road work, vehicle underpass, flyover bridge etc. were to be completed in previous years, but somehow the work has not been completed yet. Municipal Commissioner Shalini Agarwal had planned the entire project to be completed in phases. However, the work is going on at a slow pace and tenders have been issued urgently, demanding grant allocation from the state government. The state government has allocated money specifically for the South Region under the Special Economic Region. Out of which, it was said that grant should also be allocated to Surat city. Thus, it has become necessary to release a grant of Rs 300 to 400 crores to complete the work affected by the grant quickly. With the completion of the Outer Ring Road project, Surat Kamrej Road will get new connectivity with areas like Mota Varachha, Bharathana and Kosad. In addition, the rulers and the commissioner were assured of taking a quick decision after the presentation.
