The 11th edition of World of Concrete India 2025 opened with grandeur at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai. The three-day event, organized by Informa Markets in India, is expected to attract over 14,000 trade visitors, featuring 350+ brands and 250 exhibitors, with strong international participation from Germany, Korea, China, the USA, and Spain.

Prominent exhibitors include Jindal Panther Cement, JSW Cement, Godrej Construction, Sika India, UltraTech Cement, Zydex Industries, Fosroc Chemicals, Chryso Chemicals, Normet Chemicals, Vyara Tiles, Neptune Industries, Appollo Infratech, Natural Cemeco, and many more.

Concrete in Infrastructure

Dr. Vishal Ramesh Thombare, Deputy Chief Engineer, Roads (Planning), BMC, highlighted that of Mumbai’s 2,055 km road network, 1,200 km are already concretised, and most will be upgraded in the next 2–3 years. He emphasized new-age materials like geopolymer concrete, ultra-high-performance concrete, eco-friendly materials, GGBS, and waste-based materials, tested for heavy rainfall and axle loads. He cited the Mumbai Coastal Road Project, which cut travel time from 1.5 hours to 20 minutes, with structures designed to last at least 100 years.

Industry Insights

Dr. Brijesh Dixit, MD, Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation, said: “Concrete stands at the core of modern infrastructure. World of Concrete India provides a vital platform for collaboration and innovation.”

Somenath Ghosh, VP, Consulting Engineers Association of India, noted the critical role of consulting engineers in delivering sustainable, high-quality infrastructure across transport, energy, water, and urban development sectors.

Market Outlook

According to Moody’s, India’s cement consumption is projected to rise from 445 MMTPA in FY2024 to 670 MMTPA by FY2030 (CAGR 6–7%). Growth will be fueled by infrastructure projects and housing demand, driving market consolidation and competition.

Rajendra Singh Kamboh, National President, Builders Association of India (BAI), emphasized the association’s role in policy advocacy, skill development, and sustainable construction across 2 lakh+ member companies.

Amar Choudhary, CEO, 1Lattice, said the future of concrete lies in self-healing concrete, 3D printing, AI-driven mixing, embedded sensors, digital twins, and automation. He noted India’s concrete industry is valued at over $100 billion, with RMC usage expected to rise from 20–25% to 40–50% in the next decade.

Industry Collaboration

The expo is supported by NAREDCO Maharashtra, BAI, RMCMA, PMAI, Drycotec, AESA, Indian Concrete Institute (Pune Chapter), and Ferrocement Society of India.

Yogesh Mudras, MD, Informa Markets in India, highlighted the need for sustainable cement solutions, with India’s green cement market projected to grow from $2.31 billion to $3.28 billion by 2029.

Rajneesh Khattar, Senior Group Director, Informa Markets in India, added: “With projects like Navi Mumbai International Airport and Metro Line 3, India is entering a transformative phase. World of Concrete India showcases the innovations and trends that will shape tomorrow’s infrastructure.”
